Former Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder is open to fighting UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou. A recent Insider report revealed that the Cameroonian fighter has reached out to Wilder’s promoter, Al Haymon, to discuss the possibility of fighting the Alabama native.
“It was mentioned to me before, and Al agreed,” Wilder said when asked if he would fight Ngannou.
“There’s the old saying, ‘If it makes dollars, it makes sense.’ And he agreed as well… I think that would be an intriguing fight, and it would be a fight that would bring a lot of interest.”
While Ngannou is new to the sport of boxing, he has not wasted any time pursuing fights with some of the biggest names in the sport. Earlier this year, he pursued a bout with WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury.
“Definitely sometime next year,” he told BT Sport in April when asked when a potential bout with Fury would take place.
“That fight will happen because, by the end of this year, we’re going to sort this out and get settled. Ready to go!”
