Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming animated series starring Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish called Tuca & Bertie. As described by The Hollywood Reporter, the series follows “the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building.” Haddish will be the voice of Tuca, a care free, fun loving Tucan. Meanwhile, Wong will be the voice behind Bertie, an anxious and funny songbird. Created by the mind behind BoJack Horseman, the show’s first ten episode season will hit Netflix on May 3rd after a premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on May 1st.
In addition to Haddish and Wong, the series will also feature the voices of Jermaine Fowler, Tessa Thomspon, Reggie Watts, Nicole Byer and many more. Lisa Hanawalt, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen will act as the show’s executive producers. The series will also feature animation from ShadowMachine with production support from Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company.
By adding Tuca & Bertie, Netflix has a strong slate of animated series such as BoJack Horseman, F Is for Family, Castlevania and Big Mouth. The streaming service also added its first African based animated series, Mama K’s Team 4, this week. In the meantime, check out the trailer for Tuca & Bertie above.
