Netflix is always up to something. After the success of their latest British miniseries adaptation, Safe, the streaming platform is looking to release a version of another British series. Reports are surfacing that X-Files star Gillian Anderson will star in a series called Sex Education.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Sex Education is a British coming-of-age series that follows Otis Thompson, a socially awkward high school virgin who lives with his mother, a sex therapist. Surrounded by manuals, videos and tediously open conversations about sex, Otis is a reluctant expert on the subject who sets up an underground sex therapy clinic at his high school.”
Asa Butterfield of The Space Between Us will play the role of Otis Thompson, the socially awkward high school virgin who lives with his mother. Behind the scenes, the series writing team will be led by Laurie Nunn of the Pregnant Pause and a production team led by executive producers, Joel Wilson, Jamie Campbell and Ben Taylor. The series is set to begin production in the United Kingdom in the Spring. However, there is no projected release date for the British dramedy as of yet. In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates about Netflix’s latest developing series.
