Famed astrophysicist and television host, Neil deGrasse Tyson, will return to National Geographic following an investigation issued by the network. Tyson was temporarily removed from the network in December when two women accused him of sexual harassment. In addition, there was an allegation that he raped a woman in the mid 1980’s. When these allegations were first made, Nat Geo issued stated, “We take these matters very seriously and we are reviewing the recent reports.”
In response to these allegations, Neil deGrasse Tyson issued a statement on Facebook. Tyson wrote, “Evidence always matters. But what happens when it’s just one person’s word against another’s, and the stories don’t agree?” Later in the statement, he wrote, “That’s when people tend to pass judgment on who is more credible than whom. And that’s when an impartial investigation can best serve the truth – and would have my full cooperation to do so.”
After a three month layoff, Tyson has been reinstated by the network. Nat Geo did not release their findings. Instead, the network stated, “The investigation is complete.” Tyson’s show, Star Talk, is set to return for a new thirteen episode season in April.
Tyson has yet to comment on the results of this investigation.
