
The NBA has reportedly sent a memo to organizations warning them about the impact of Coronavirus on attendance according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The memo says to prepare for games without fans in attendance and to highlight “essential staff”.

Coronavirus is impacting things on a global scale, from economics and sports alike. Italy announced that no fans will be allowed to attend Serie A soccer matches due to the highly contagious virus. The NCAA has toyed with the possibility of not having fans in attendance for March Madness games. Even in entertainment, SXSW in Austin was also canceled for the first time in 30+ years.
The NBA also reminded teams of the current requirements necessary to postpone or cancel a game, should the need arise. Large social gatherings are teetering on the edge of temporary elimination, while some countries have decided to ban them altogether.
