As sports betting increases in popularity across the United States, professional sports leagues have begun to embrace it and partner with authorized operators. The NBA is the latest major sports league to do so, announcing in a press release yesterday that they have partnered with authorized sports betting operator William Hill.
According to the release, William Hill has an 85-year history in the arena of sports betting, paving the way for their partnership with the NBA to come to fruition. The sportsbook is also already partners with the National Hockey League.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) and William Hill, one of America’s leading sports book operators, today announced a new partnership that will make William Hill a Proud Partner and an Authorized Sports Betting Operator of the NBA in the United States.
As part of the agreement, William Hill will have the right to use official NBA betting data and league marks across its mobile platforms and in its sports books throughout the United States. Additionally, William Hill will be promoted across the NBA’s digital assets including NBA.com, the NBA app, and the NBA’s social media platforms.
With this recent partnership with William Hill now becoming official, we should expect to see legalized sports gambling become even more prominent in the NBA.
Of course, the interest and attention geared towards legal sports betting has been higher than ever over the past couple of years. Last year, the Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act established back in 1992.
This ruling allowed for the legalization of sports betting and has allowed professional leagues to tap into whole other fanbases. Hopefully with this recent partnership with William Hill, the momentum behind legal gambling will only continue to grow.
