One week can make a huge difference.
Seven days ago, Moneybagg Yo made the decision to push his mixtape release back by one week to avoid delivering new music on the same day as Taylor Swift.
“I just got the news my little baby Taylor [is] dropping tonight,” he told his fans in late May.
“I [am not going to] lie. You know how I feel about Taylor, so I’m [going to] push Hard To Love back just a few days. Y’all be patient with me.”
This week, the release slate is not much lighter. Taylor Swift may not be dropping new music, but The Weeknd, Madonna, Playboi Carti, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Latto, Kodak Black and many others are dropping new music. Not to mention, Marvel’s Metro Boomin’-produced Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack is set to be released. With that said, Moneybagg Yo is no slouch.
To the surprise of some, the Memphis native topped the Billboard 200 chart with his last LP, A Gangsta’s Pain. Complete with contributions form Future and Pharrell Williams, the album moved 110,000 units in its first week. Two years later, he is looking to deliver an even better body of work.
Back again, Moneybagg Yo is ready to deliver his latest album, Hard To Love. The 20-track project features Fridayy, Future, Lil’ Durk, YTB Fatt, Shot Off and GloRilla.
“I gained and lost more than I ever thought I would and had no other safe outlet for all the emotions and dark thoughts that came with that other than making music,” he said about his new project.
