In the ever-changing music industry, it’s always important to remain ready with new content because opportunities arise unexpectedly. Last Friday, an opportunity came about for two New Jersey artists and it appears that both are ready to make the most of it.
Last week, Cardi B debuted her the music video for her song, “Up.” The single and video immediately grabbed the attention of the music industry because of the Grammy winner’s style and presence. Not to mention, the song could possibly lead to a new album later this year. With that said, two New Jersey artists, Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos, heard “Up” and walked away with completely different thoughts.
“Up” features a hook that is similar to that of song called “Stuck” from Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos. While the hook is not unique to Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos, the cadence and style in which it was delivered on Cardi B’s “Up” could be compared to “Stuck” from Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos. As fans began pointing out the similarities, Mir Fontane, Mir Pesos and Cardi B shared a brief exchange in which she denied all allegations that she may have taken the hook from “Stuck.”
While it’s unclear if the controversy surrounding “Up” will spill into the courtroom, it does appear that Mir Fontane and Mir Pesos are ready to take advantage of the moment. As fans heard about “Stuck,” the music video began to rack up tens of thousands of views. Now, the two have delivered their own solo records. First, Mir Fontane dropped “Call J. Cole.” Shortly thereafter, Mir Pesos dropped “She’s Gone” produced by WayneOnDaStix. His latest release sets up for his new project, Pocket Rocket Pes, later this year.
