Charlotte Hornets restricted free agent forward Miles Bridges had pleaded no contest to felony domestic violence charges. He was sentenced to three years of probation, but notably no jail time in the deal with prosecutors. This happened Thursday morning in Los Angeles Superior Court. Bridges were charged earlier in the year with felony child abuse and has had his court date delayed several times. Pleading no contest in court means Bridges is accepting the sentence and the conviction, but not formally admitting his guilt in the case.

In his three years of probation, Miles Bridges will have to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling, 52 weeks of parenting classes, 100 hours of community service, and will have to undergo weekly narcotics testing. Marijuana would be allowed with a doctor’s note. There are also some small fines associated with the charges he will have to pay. Bridges and his lawyer declined to comment.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office released the following statement to the public after the sentencing: “We believe this resolution was the best avenue to hold Mr. Bridges accountable for his conduct. We also understand through the victim’s representatives that the victim wanted an expedited resolution of the case. The victim and her representatives were consulted about the proposed resolution and agreed with the outcome of the case.”
Miles Bridges is currently unsigned in the NBA but does still have a qualifying offer from the Charlotte Hornets.
