Fans of the sweet science are in paradise. Within the last eight months, Terence Crawford has shared the ring with Errol Spence Jr., Gervonta “Tank” Davis went toe-to-toe with Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney fought Vasyl Lomachenko. This fall, Regis Prograis will challenge Devin Haney and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will battle Jermell Charlo. Unfortunately, Tyson Fury will not go to ward with Oleksandr Usyk, but he has set his sights on another intriguing event.
On October 28, the WBC heavyweight champion will trade blows with former UFC Champion Francis Ngannou. Ngannou hasn’t participated in a professional boxing match since embarking on his journey to UFC fame, but he will have the help of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. This week, the MMA star announced that Mike Tyson would serve as his trainer for the forthcoming challenge.
“It is no secret I back Ngannou 100% in this face-off of champions. He has one hard punch, and when it lands, it’s game over. I am looking forward to working with Ngannou and supporting his transition from the octagon to the boxing ring,” Tyson said, according to Boxing Scene.
“He isn’t a combat novice; he is a world champion. He knows how to compete when the bell rings, but the key will be combining his energy and combat skills into his punches and using his agility to move swiftly around the ring then delivering the knock-out blow. We’re here to win.”
