Mick Jenkins has returned and as always, he’s come with gifts in the form of some great music. The Chicago native has delivered a dozen new tracks in the form of an album called Elephant In The Room. The 12-track journey provides fans an insight to the rapper’s thoughts as he confronts some of the tougher issues in his life like his relationship with his father and strained friendships.
“From my estranged relationship with my father to friendships that don’t feel the same anymore to the even more basic idea of acknowledging that I need help. We become accustomed to allowing none progressive qualities and truths to occupy so much space in our lives simply by ignoring them, or ignoring them despite them being right in our faces,” he said about the album, according to Brooklyn Vegan.
“I intend to face several of those dormant issues/topics head-ons in the hopes that others can, at the very least, identify with the spaces I’ve grown from.”
The Chicago native is not traveling this road alone. Along the way, he connects with Thelonius Martin, Lophiile, Tae Beast, Saba and several others.
