Actress, producer and director Michaela Coel has joined the cast of one of the most highly anticipated films of 2022, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is unclear what Coel’s role in the film will be, but Variety has reported that she is working closely with director Ryan Coogler in Atlanta, Georgia at Pinewood Studios.
Many of the details regarding the Black Panther sequel have been kept under wraps by Marvel Studios. Most importantly, fans are unclear how the film will portray the lead character following the death of Chadwick Boseman. In addition, Michael B. Jordan has teased the return of his character, Erik Killmonger, on more than one occasion.
“But being in that world in a character that I loved playing, and working with [writer-director Ryan Coogler] and all that good stuff, it’s family,” Jordan told People Magazine.
“We created a family over there. So to be able to be in that world again is something that, I think, will always be on the table in some capacity.”
Thus far, the only thing that is certain is that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will arrive in theaters in July 2022. Until then, fans will have to wait and speculate.
