The Orlando Magic have signed guard Michael Carter-Williams to a two-year deal with a team option on the second year. After spending 2019-2022 with the Orlando Magic, Carter-Williams was a free agent this season. Orlando waived guard RJ Hampton last week and signed their former guard back after the move. While the team is not in the race for the Playoffs, they did need guard depth and lie the way Carter-Williams fits into the rotation. His play to close the season will likely determine if they pick up the second-year team option in the offseason.

In the 2020-21 season in 31 games with the Orlando Magic, Michael Carter-Williams averaged 8.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 38.9 percent and a three-point percentage of 24.6 percent. He has proved to be a valuable depth player for the team and can hopefully teach the younger players on the roster a thing or two about playing in the NBA. Carter-Williams has showed flashes of top talent and could help provide an extra boost to the team to close the 2022-23 NBA season.
