Michael B. Jordan will reportedly direct Creed IV. The saga’s lead producer Irvin Winkler did not provide any further comment regarding the direction of the film or when it would appear in theaters.
“We’re planning to do ‘Creed 4’ right now — it’s in the works — and we think we have a really good story, a really good plot,” Winkler said, according to Variety.
Jordan has emerged as the face of the Rocky spinoff theatrical series. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the first Creed film arrived in 2015 with the Newark native playing the role of Adonis Creed. The film earned a 95% approval rating via Rotten Tomatoes and Sylvester Stallone earned an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa. Three years later, the Steve Caple Jr.-led sequel debuted in theaters with Jordan’s Creed set to fight Viktor Drago, the son of the man who killed his father decades earlier. The most recent installment of the Creed franchise arrived in theater this past spring. Directed by Jordan, the film earned $58 million in its opening weekend, a record-setting debut for the boxing franchise.
