Meek Mill has definitely been on a run this summer. Earlier this year, Meek Mill was released from prison and flew straight to ring the bell at a Philadelphia 76ers playoff game. From there, he tore down the 2018 BET Awards with a powerful new single featuring Miguel called “Stay Woke”. Shortly thereafter, Meek Mill released a new project called Legends of the Summer. Since then, Meek Mill has continued to move in silence and make big moves towards furthering his music career and raising awareness for victims of the U.S. prison industrial complex.
In the background of Meek Mill’s great 2018 run, he and his legal team have worked tirelessly to remove Judge Genece Brinkley from overseeing his ongoing legal battle. Meek Mill and his team have presented a strong case in an effort to argue that Judge Brinkley was biased. Most recently, Meek Mill and company have filed a motion to remove Judge Brinkley from presiding over his ongoing legal battle. Unfortunately, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court denied Meek’s motion. However, he and his team have the option to file a similar motion at a lower court.
Following the decision, Meek Mill’s lead legal representation, Joe Tacopina, spoke about the most recent developments. Tacopina stated, “While the Pennsylvania Supreme Court declined to immediately hear our application to reassign Meek’s case to a new judge, we understand the Court wants us to go through the normal course of appeals to the Superior Court and we intend to do just that.”
Moving forward, Meek Mill is a free man, but unfortunately this legal battle will hang a dark cloud over his bright future.
