At 31 years old, Maxo Kream certainly has a lot on his plate. He’s running his own clothing line and pursuing a career in music. Not to mention, he recently lost his brother and welcomed his first child into the world. Through it all, he manages to deliver quality music time after time.
Earlier this week, Maxo Kream dropped his third studio album, Weight Of The World. Across 16 tracks, the Houston native raps alongside Freddie Gibbs, Tyler, The Creator, Don Toliver, Monaleo and A$AP Rocky.
“That s–t cool. Rocky is my n–a. He’s been f–king with us since I first started rocking — like my first Hip-Hop co-sign ever was [A$AP] Yams,” Maxo Kream told Billboard‘s Armon Sadler about working A$AP Rocky on the new project.
“Getting that verse from Freddie — it was like, n—as don’t even know. I don’t even talk about it, he don’t like me talking about it, but it was a time when I was up and coming — Lambo [manager Ben Lambert] and Freddie Gibbs, I reached out to them, and we was actually talking about signing. You know, I went my own way for my own reasons, but I f–k with Freddie Gibbs,” he added when asked about working with Freddie Gibbs.
Weight of the World is a project that brings together all facets of the Houston native’s life. From the pain of losing his brother to the challenges of being a young Black man in the streets of Texas, Maxo Kream paints a portrait of who he is and where he is going. Listen to the full album below.
