There is a bit of shuffling going on at Marvel.
Deadline has reported that the newest Blade film, led by Mahershala Ali, is shelved until further notice. While disappointing, this is not all that surprising. Ali and company were expected to begin filming this fall, but plans were altered when the film lost its director, Bassam Tariq.
Blade is not the only film undergoing a bit of shifting and shuffling. Leading the way, the latest Deadpool movie has pivoted from a release date in September 2024 to November 8, 2024. As a result, Fantastic Four has moved its release date from November 8, 2024 to February 14, 2025. Alongside Fantastic Four, Avengers: Secret Wars will jump from a November 7, 2025 release date to a May 5, 2026 release date. Rounding out the latest slate of changes on the Marvel calendar, an untitled superhero flick from the studio has pivoted its release date from February 14, 2025 to November 7, 2025.
Fortunately, there is a bit of good news after the rain and gloom that Marvel is seemingly pouring onto its fans. Searchlight’s Chevalier has earned an April 7, 2023 release date. Meanwhile, A Haunting in Venice is set to arrive on September 15, 2023. Not to be forgotten, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will crash into theaters on May 24, 2024.
