Many of those who leave a trail of greatness in their path return to their past and attempt to extend their legacy just a bit more. Michael Jordan stepped away from the game of basketball and returned to win three more NBA titles. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter stepped away from the world of music and returned to tour the world and win more Grammy Awards. In the world of film, Hugh Jackman is attempting to get into that company. After building a rabid fan base through a number of X-Men roles, Jackman is reportedly stepping back into the role of Wolverine in the next Deadpool film.
“I absolutely will confirm my intention and determination to be lucky son of a b-tch who puts those two magnificent gods in the same movie together. That will happen and it will be me,” director Shawn Levy said before the news was shared with fans.
Hugh Jackman is no stranger to working alongside Ryan Reynolds, who is best known to superhero film fans as Deadpool. The two Hollywood stars appeared in the 2009 film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Seven years later, Reynolds starred in the first Deadpool film and helped bring in nearly $800 million against a $58 million budget. Two years later, Reynolds returned for a sequel alongside Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz. Now, Marvel is working on bringing a third film to the big screen in September 2024.
