Martin Lawrence recently secured his place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but he is far from done. During a recent interview with Ronda Racha Penrice of EBONY, Lawrence affirmed that he is interested in working on at least one more Bad Boys film with actor, producer and author Will Smith.
“We got one more at least,” he said when asked about the future of the Bad Boys franchise.
Lawrence has been a part of many successful projects throughout his legendary career, but few have reached the level of the action-comedy franchise. The first Bad Boys film grossed $141 million worldwide and the following two installments brought in $273 million and $426 million, respectively. Given the success of the most recent film, it appeared to be a foregone conclusion that a fourth film would be in the works. Unfortunately, Will Smith’s altercation with Chris Rock at the Academy Awards put much of that in jeopardy. Despite rumors and speculation, it appears that Lawrence is on board for “at least” one more film with his longtime co-star.
As for Smith, it is unclear when he will reappear. In addition to putting together another film with Lawrence, he was also working on Emancipation with Antoine Fuqua. Not to mention, he has a behind-the-scenes role with Peacock’s Bel-Air. However, Smith has not been seen or heard from since the incident at the Academy Awards.
