In a talk show streamed on Twitch, Markelle Fultz revealed that the toughest opponent he faced in college was Lonzo Ball, the point guard selected immediately after Fultz in this year’s Draft. Transcribed by The Score:
“In college? Lonzo Ball,” Fultz said. “I’m tryna get some Big Baller Brand T-shirts. Gotta hit him up before we leave.”
Is Fultz’s praise sincere, or is he trying to butter up Lonzo in order to get one of those over-priced Big Baller Brand t-shirts for free?
Fultz and Ball faced off just once during their sole college seasons, on Feb. 5. Ball’s superior UCLA squad dominated the matchup, 107-66. Fultz led the game with 25 points and also snared six rebounds, dished out five assists and stole the ball three times. Ball led the way for the Bruins with 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The two teams played again, on March 2, but Fultz didn’t suit up due to a knee injury. UCLA also won that game with ease, 98-66.
