The NFL is no stranger to lawsuits and allegations of players conducting themselves with pretty unseemly behavior. That certainly is the case as it pertains to a recent lawsuit filed against Jacksonville Jaguars defensive lineman Marcell Dareus.

According to the lawsuit filed in a Florida court, an unnamed woman accuses the 6’3″, 331-pound lineman of sexual assault and failing to disclose the transmission of an STD – allegedly herpes.
The report contains grim details of a sexual encounter between Dareus and the woman in which she has no recollection. However, the woman admits to consensual encounters between the two in the days following. The woman said at no time did Dareus disclose to her that he had herpes; the woman says she was diagnosed around a week later.
Contained in the lawsuit, written by an attorney representing the woman, the following is written:
“[Dareus’] negligence has caused (the) plaintiff to suffer severe physical and mental injuries, including, but not limited to, past and future medical costs, past and future pharmaceutical costs, past and future physical pain and suffering, past and future mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.”
Dareus was drafted with the third overall pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2011 NFL Draft. On September 10, 2015, he and the Bills agreed to a six-year, $100 million contract extension. In October of 2017, however, the Bills traded Dareus to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a late-round draft pick.
The woman who filed the lawsuit against Marcell Dareus is reportedly seeking somewhere in the neighborhood of $15,000 in damages.
