When Juvenile said Cash Money Records was taking over for the ’99 and the 2000’s, he wasn’t kidding. Cash Money Records, a New Orleans-based record label has been a household name for years since. Cash Money has given us Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Hot Boys, as well as Drake and Nicki Minaj.
Recently, Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh sat down for an interview with The Come Up Show, speaking on the long term effects the label had on hip hop.
Fresh explained how Cash Money was “just the flashy dudes”, being their own genre of rap. The famed DJ also explains when Cash Money introduced “Bling Bling” to the world, how that became the biggest monster. The producer explained how the problem now is, everything is a “bling fest”, calling that the curse of Cash Money. The blessing of the label though, teaching other artists how to turn their rap dreams to money.
