Magic Johnson may be a California legend, but he remains a Michigan kid at heart. Recently, the Michigan State Spartan hopped on Twitter to express his support for Gretchen Whitmer in her bid to remain the governor of Michigan.
“I hope that Governor Gretchen Whitmer gets another four years as Governor of Michigan,” Michigan native Magic Johnson tweeted.
The Michigan native not only issued a tweet in support of the governor, but he also appeared alongside her during a rally in East Lansing on Monday.
“Now is not the time to go backward, whether it’s on economic development or historic education funding that we’ve gotten,” Whitmer told a crowd of potential voters on the eve of Election Day.
“We can’t afford to have a governor who’s gonna write a budget for Betsy DeVos’ interests.”
With the support of Magic Johnson, she must fend off Republic challenger Tudor Dixon on Election Day. Recent polling from Five Thirty-Eight gives Whitmer a 4.8% edge heading into the voting booths.
