Two months after the death of Adolph “Young Dolph” Thorton Jr., Paper Route EMPIRE has announced the release of a tribute album for the Memphis native. The new project, Long Live Dolph, will feature music from Key Glock, Snupe Bandz, Big Moochie Grape, Kenny Muney and several others. It will also include the recently released single, “LLD,” by Jay Fizzle.
Long Live Dolph is the first tribute project to be released since the Memphis native was killed on November 17, 2021. According to several reports, Young Dolph returned to his hometown on November 17 in preparation for his annual Thanksgiving meal drive. While in Memphis, he stopped by a local bakery by name of Makeda’s Cookies. During his time at the bakery, video shows two men getting out of a car and firing multiple shots that killed Young Dolph and damaged the storefront.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Young Dolph’s friends and associates held a turkey giveaway at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis. Weeks later, thousands gathered at the FedEx Forum to celebrate the life of Adolph “Young Dolph” Thorton Jr.
As many have celebrated the life of Young Dolph, police have searched for the two men accused of killing the late star. On December 9, Cornelius Smith was arrested in Mississippi. Nearly one month later, Justin Johnson was reportedly arrested in Indiana. Both men have been charged with first-degree murder.
