LL Cool J has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and will not perform during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest on ABC this Friday.
“I know it’s disappointing to the millions of fans, but my test came back positive for COVID, which means I’ll no longer be able to perform as scheduled at NYRE,” LL Cool J told The Hollywood Reporter.
“We were ready, and I was really looking forward to ringing in 2022 in my hometown in a special way, but for now I wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year. The best is yet to come!”
LL Cool J is not the only star to pull out of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. Chlöe Bailey recently revealed that she will not perform during the televised event as well. However, she did not indicate that she has tested positive for COVID-19.
In spite of LL Cool J and Chlöe Bailey’s absence, ABC has managed to put together a star-studded lineup for the New Year’s Eve event. THR reports that Karol G, French Montana, Macklemore, Travis Barker and several others will still perform in New York. Also, Billy Porter and Daddy Yankee are set to make appearances in New Orleans and Puerto Rico.
The event is set to kick off on December 31 at 8 p.m. ET.
