Over the last twelve months, we have seen an alarming number of young rappers die at the hands overdose and violence. In the last twelve months, music has seen the untimely deaths of Mac Miller, Jimmy Wopo, Young Greatness and XXXTentacion. One of the first to pass away over this twelve month span was Pennsylvania’s own, Lil’ Peep. At age twenty one, the young musician passed away due to an overdose after a complicated battle with depression and drug use.
In his passing, the world at large showed a tremendous amount of love and support for the rapper and his family. John Jeremiah Sullivan of GQ wrote, “When Lil Peep died late last year, he left behind an outsized legacy.” Jon Caramanica of the The New York Times characterized Peep as the “Kurt Cobain of lo-fi rap”.
In the weeks and months since his passing, the outpouring of support has continued. Last year, fans showed out and supported Peep’s penultimate album, Come Over When You’re Sober Part I. This week, Columbia Records has released the second installment of the series. More importantly, this could be the last full length project in Peep’s catalog to be released. Stream the entire project above and let us know what you think of late rapper’s work.
