Coming off of the success of One Night In Miami, Leslie Odom Jr. has landed his next role. He will lead the upcoming reboot of The Exorcist at Universal and Peacock. Odom Jr. will join a cast that includes Ellen Burstyn, who is set to reprise her role as Chris MacNeil. Meanwhile, David Gordon will step in to direct the first of the three planned films of the reboot.
Behind the scenes, Blumhouse and Morgan Creek will help develop the film and bring it to the big screen. Movie fans are very familiar of the strong track record that Universal and Blumhouse have had over the years. The two entities have put together films like Get Out, Split and The Invisible Man.
“There’s no better time to be joining forces with the team at Peacock, reuniting with the great team at Universal and finally getting to work with my friends at Blumhouse, than on this classic franchise,” David Robinson of Morgan Creek told The Hollywood Reporter.
Odom Jr. and Burstyn’s work is expected to arrive just in time for Halloween with an October 13, 2023 release date. Stay tuned for more details regarding the revitalization of this historical horror franchise.
