Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is taking the 2023 season off from coaching but plans to return in 2024. Frazier was adamant that he did not wish to retire from coaching but needed to take a step back in 2023. While his plan is to return to coaching in 2024, it is uncertain if that return will be to Buffalo. While his replacement has not been named at this time, that person could fill the role full-time if all goes well this season. The Bills have also talked about Head Coach Sean McDermott calling the plays on defense next season.

Leslie Frazier has been a Head Coach and a defensive coordinator in the NFL, with varying levels of success. He has served as the Bills’ defensive coordinator since 2017 and has helped build a solid unit and scheme for the franchise. While his career in 2024 could be elsewhere, there should be plenty of teams interested in him as a defensive coordinator at that time. He could also get some looks as a Head Coach at that time. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best in his year off and his return to football in 2024.
