LeGarrette Blount had a terrific 2016 season for New England where he led the NFL with 18 rushing touchdowns in 2016. After having some issues in Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh, Blount has made it clear that he has no plans on leaving New England despite becoming a free agent this offseason. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the team also wants him back as well.
“The running back wants to return, and the team wants him back, per Rapoport. Given that his value is higher on the Patriots than on any other team, expect the sides to find equal footing at some point”.
Blount had a really productive year rushing for 1,161 yards in 2016. Blount, 30, did have a costly fumble in the Super Bowl but fortunately, it didn’t cost his team the win. Given the fact that the Patriots have $67 million in cap space this offseason (According to Spotrac.com), I see no issues with them trying to re-sign him. Even if another team offers him more, it’s safe to say that LeGarrette would rather take less to stay in New England.
LeGarrette Blount is a former 2010 undrafted running back from Oregon.
