For nearly 20 years, LeBron James has dominated pop culture discourse. As a pop culture phenomenon, he has revamped the Space Jam franchise, worked as an A&R and opened his own school. Oh yeah, he’s also won four NBA titles and four MVP trophies. If you can believe it, James is now venturing into an arena that is foreign to him.
LeBron James is set to release his first children’s chapter book in August. His literally work, We Are Family, centers around a group of kids who chase their dreams despite having the odds stacked against them. In many ways, it sounds a lot like James and his friends twenty years ago.
“Everyone has a story and unique set of challenges they’re going through that we don’t hear about,” James said in a press release.
“‘We Are Family’ shows how an unlikely group of kids comes together to chase their dreams, despite having the odds stacked against them. It’s an important story of family, purpose and perseverance in the face of adversity that I hope inspires everyone who reads it to never stop dreaming and believing in what they’re capable of.”
We Are Family is co-written by Nashville-based author Andrea Williams. Publishing efforts will be led by book publishing giant HarperCollins. It is set to hit bookshelves and online bookstores on August 31.
The most frequent question I've gotten while promoting BASEBALL'S LEADING LADY is, "What are you working on next?"
I've been coy, but today I can *finally* share my next project: A collaboration with @KingJames about family and hope and, of course, basketball. pic.twitter.com/6vu2Ai3Qgu
