Adam Sandler has signed on to lead the upcoming sports film, Hustle. Sandler will play the role of a basketball scout who is fired shortly after discovering a generational talent overseas. After being fired, Sandler brings the prospect to the United States to prove that they both can make it on the biggest stage.
Sandler is not the only big name taking part in this picture. Behind the scenes, Jeremiah Zagar will direct the film. Joining Zagar, LeBron James and Maverick Carter will produce the film through SpringHill Entertainment. Rounding out the dream team, Taylor Materne and Will Fetters will write the script.
This is not Sandler’s first foray into the world of sports. He built his brand starring in sports films such as Happy Madison, The Waterboy, 8 Crazy Nights and The Longest Yard. More recently he starred in Uncut Gems alongside Kevin Garnett. Moving forward, he will also star alongside Shaquille O’Neal in Hubie Halloween.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Hustle.
