Team USA is looking to bounce back from a lackluster performance at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup by adding a few superstars to its roster. NBA champions LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Stephen Curry have reportedly expressed interest in joining Team USA for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Additionally, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors and Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns are also expected to represent the United States during the upcoming Olympic tournament in Paris, France. Rounding out the class of potential additions, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul have also been rumored as potential Team USA assets heading into the next Olympic cycle.
News of potential additions arrives just a few days after Team USA suffered back-to-back losses at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. On Friday, September 8, Germany ousted Team USA in 113-111 upset. Days later, Canada topped Team USA in an overtime thriller. Now, Team USA looks to reload with the potential additions of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Stephen Curry heading into the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
“The king is coming,” former NBA star Gilbert Arenas said after hearing of James’ interest in playing in the upcoming summer Olympic games.
“And he’s bringing all Louis Vuitton luggage, yeah!”
The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are set to begin in late July and run through August 11, 2024. Team USA aims to defend the gold medal it picked up in men’s basketball in Tokyo just two years ago.
