The Baltimore Ravens have informed quarterback Lamar Jackson that they are placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on him. This means that he can negotiate and sign with another team once the free agency period begins in the NFL. Baltimore will hold the rights to match the deal or receive two first-round picks for letting him sign with the other team. If Jackson does not sign with another team Baltimore long-term his franchise tag contract number for next season would be $32.41 million. Several teams have been rumored to be interested in the former MVP quarterback.

Lamar Jackson notably does not have his own agent and has been negotiating on his own behalf with the team for some time now. The two sides have remained far apart and the franchise tag extends the period of time they will be able to continue their negotiations. Jackson will not be able to further leverage his value by talking with other teams. While teams like the Atalanta Falcons were rumored to be interested, some of those reports have been conflicted in the past few days.
This past season with the Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson completed 203 passes for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions on 326 attempts. He also rushed the ball 112 times for 764 yards and three rushing touchdowns. The former MVP should have plenty of teams interested in him this off-season.
