Looking to follow up the release of his ‘114’ EP, Toronto’s own Lais has released a new loose single by the name of ‘Mine Only’. The Dark Luxury R&B singer hailing from the 6ix has already been praised by OVO’s own Drake as the new single was premiered by Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 radio show. For what it’s worth, we all know what type of effect Drake has when an artist is given the OVO stamp of approval so whether you are familiar with Lais or not, you’ll eventually start to pay attention, as I did. When I came across the new single, ‘Mine Only’ I was rather impressed and with Lais looking to bring a new aspect of R&B to game, he’s in for a challenge but he’s obviously up for it. This isn’t the first time the Pakistan-born artist has appeared on Beats 1 as back on the second episode of OVO Sound radio, Drake let Lais record ‘For You’ ring off before we were blessed with ‘Hotline Bling’. It’s no secret Drake has an ear for music and new artist.
‘Mine Only’ takes us on a whirlwind of getting that rhythmic singing he’s grown to be known for and occasional rapping which, if we are familiar with, is something Drake is also well known for. So the praise from Aubrey is an obvious one.
If you haven’t heard his ‘114’ EP which is titled after the address he lived at when he moved from VA to Toronto, serving as a chapter ending body of work, do so. But before you do check out ‘Mine Only’ below, Lais has a bright future ahead of him.
