L.A. Reid has stepped down from his position at Epic Records according to Variety. The veteran music exec has been with the Sony Music label since 2011. Throughout his tenure, the exec has launched the careers of Fifth Harmony, Future, Travis Scott and DJ Khaled to name a few. Reid was also responsible for bringing Mariah Carey back to the Sony Music label.
While details of his exit are very scarce, he is working on his next move. Reid is listed as an executive producer on an upcoming drama called Cotton Club. Reid posted on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, quoting F. Scott Fitzgerald. No word if it was just some inspiration for the timeline or reference to his exit.
