The New York Knicks might have a lot of questions heading into the 2017 NBA Draft, mostly surrounded by their stars Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. While the trade market for Carmelo Anthony seems to be all but dry, the idea of Kristaps Porzingis being a trade target appears to be ramped up to a new level. Fortunately for Knicks fans, Porzingis wants to stay in New York for the time being.
His contract is not done for at least another two years if the Knicks exercise his player option, and that’s at least how long Porzingis wants to be with the team. His brother Janis, who is also one of his agents alongside Andy Miller at ASM Sports, declares KP wants to remain in New York.
Following comes from Ian Begley of ESPN.
No one from the Knicks organization has been in touch with Kristaps Porzingis since he skipped exit meetings. Porzingis’ brother, Janis, is frustrated by the lack of communication. “Despite how the Knicks are treating their players, Kris wants to stay in New York. He loves the city and he loves the fans and he wants to win with this team,” Janis Porzingis told ESPN. “If he’s going to be traded, he’s going to play out his contact and decide his future on his own.”
To clarify: NYK management, coaches have not been in touch with Porzingis since the skipped exit meeting. Teammates (Kuzminskas, Willy) have https://t.co/hr50jAE1lv
