Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars have landed the commitment of 2023 top 100 recruit and top 15 combo guard Kordelius Jefferson. Top-level four-star talent is the type of talent that has built the Houston Cougars into the Mid Major powerhouse they currently are and recruits like Jefferson typically spend at least three years in school. He committed to the Houston Cougars over the Texas A&M Aggies, TCU Horned Frogs, and Tennessee Volunteers. The Arlington, Texas native will stay in his home state, but heads to Houston over the bigger schools in the state.

Kordelius Jefferson is currently ranked as the 95th prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and is also ranked as the 14th combo guard in the class. While Houston has many offers out to recruits, Jefferson is the first player in the 2023 recruiting class to commit to Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars. He will likely become a fan favorite quickly and will be remembered for the years he spends with the program.

The Houston Cougars have a clear goal in mind and it involves winning an NCAA Championship in the near future. This program has been very close recently but hasn’t been able to get over the hump thus far with Sampson as the Head Coach. Perhaps in the near future, a roster with Kordelius Jefferson on it will get to cut down the final nets in a college basketball season. Either way, he will be a valuable player for the Cougars program in the future.
