Bill “Kodak Black” Kapri was reportedly arrested in Florida on Friday. Initial reports suggest that the chart-topping artist was driving a purple Dodge Durango with an expired license when he was stopped by Florida Highway Patrol officers. In a press release, officers claimed that the stop was triggered by the car’s window tints “which appeared to be darker than the legal limit.”
Things only got worse for Kodak Black during the stop. Police searched the car and allegedly found nearly $75,000 in cash and a bag that contained 31 tablets of oxycodone. The 25-year-old rapper has reportedly been taken to Broward County Jail where he remains in custody.
Kodak Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, issued a statement following his client’s arrest. Bond has reportedly been set at $75,000 and he hopes to arrange for his arrest shortly.
“Never judge a case based on an arrest,” Cohen told ABC affiliate, WPLG, in Miami, Florida.
“There are facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case. We negotiated a bond of ($75,000) and we will move forward with resolving the matter quickly.”
Kodak Black has not yet issued a public statement. Stay tuned as this story continues to develop.
