Olympic Silver Medalist Richard Torrez Jr. will return to the ring on August 27, 2022. The heavyweight prospect has announced that he will fight Marco Antonio Canedo in a six-round bout at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“I want to thank Top Rank for keeping me active and giving me the platform to showcase my talents. Every fight is a learning experience, and I can’t wait until August 27 in Tulsa,” he shared in a press statement.
Torrez Jr.’s third professional bout will kickoff a Top Rank event that features a bout between former world champions Jose Pedraza and Richard Commey. Heavyweight contender Jared Anderson is also set to return to the ring and fight Miljan Rovcanin after a lengthy layoff.
The news of Torrez Jr.’s upcoming bout comes less than 12 hours after he earned his second pro win. The Olympic Silver Medalist was able to stop Roberto Zavala Jr. in the first round of a scheduled six-round bout in California on July 15. Now, he will continue his run with another fight in Oklahoma.
