The New York Knicks have lost a lot lately. They started the season 22-22 but since that mark, they have gone 4-16, one of the worst records in the NBA in that span and they currently sit 13th in the Eastern Conference.
They fired their coach but they didn’t make any moves at the trade deadline so its unclear what direction the Knicks want to go in going forward. A signing they did today further confuses the Knicks situation as they have inked Tony Wroten to a three-year deal.
Following from Shams Charania of The Vertical on Yahoo! Sports.
Free-agent guard Tony Wroten and the New York Knicks are finalizing agreement on a multi-year contract, league sources told The Vertical.
The deal is expected to be finalized Monday, sources said.
Howard Beck of Bleacher Report shed some light on the Wroten situation.
A note on Knicks' Tony Wroten signing, for those curious: I'm told there are "minimal" guarantees in Years 2 and 3. Low-risk play for NY.

Why sign Wroten for 3 yrs, even w/minimal guarantees? Gives him time to get healthy (ACL), while Knicks evaluate. Also, Bird rights.

Also, hearing it's very unlikely that Wroten plays this season. Health was a serious question when he came back in Philly in December.

Wroten was released by the Philadelphia 76ers on Christmas Eve, just eight games into his return from a torn ACL which ended his 2014-15 campaign. Since then, Wroten has sat in free agency with no teams yet to bite. The Knicks had some interest around New Years Eve but it went nowhere but now with a necessity to upgrade their point guard position the team revisited the Wroten option.
Thankfully for the Knicks, it appears that Wroten had been interested in the Knicks for a very long time.
Hopefully they're high. https://t.co/wWzSzAgJCB

Would love too. Playing in the Garden is a dream of mines. Nothing like it. https://t.co/AA8yXAWVEc
