It’s the Knicks team doctors currently getting the best workouts at the moment tending to the pile of bodies in their medical rooms. Joining Chris Smith, Marcus Camby, J.R. Smith and Amar’e Stoudemire on the injury list is last year’s Defensive Player of the Year winner, Tyson Chandler, quite possibly the Knicks biggest void to fill if he were to miss a substantial amount of time. Chandler left yesterday’s final preseason game against the Nets with just one minute gone in the encounter, team officials say it’s a sore knee, Chandler says he thinks it’s a sprain.
“I stretched my knee out a little and it was awkward,” Chandler said. “I’m taking precautions until I get an MRI so I will be on crutches. I do not want it to get worse. They tell me to stay off my knee until I get an MRI.”
“I just didn’t want it to be anything, we’ve got bodies down. I felt great before the start of the game and I wanted to set a tone leading to the first game of the season. I wanted to be out there. It was more so that I knew they weren’t going to let me come back so (there was) more of that frustration.”
