Actress Kerry Washington has revealed that she will join HBO’s Insecure during the show’s fourth season. Washington revealed the news yesterday by posting a video on Twitter. In true Insecure fashion, Washington finds herself rapping about joining the show in front of a mirror. Towards the end, Issa Rae joins Washington in celebration.
“But also, can you actually direct us?” Issa Rae asks Kerry Washington.
Washington will direct the ninth episode of the show’s fourth season. Insecure is set to return to HBO in 2020 at an unspecified date.
The show was initially pushed back because of Rae’s increasingly busy schedule.
I’m a little INSECURE about my Mirror B*tch. But I’m excited for @IssaRae to show me how it’s done. #KerryDirectsInsecure pic.twitter.com/uv7PnwLTWq

HBO’s Casey Bloys stated, “When you’re in business with very creative and talented people, there are a lot more opportunities for people to do things. Issa, I think, partly wanted a break to come back fresh.”
Luckily, pushing the show back one year will also make fans happy when the show returns. HBO has pushed the upcoming season up to ten episodes as opposed to the standard eight episodes issued for comedies.
