Kenny Beats has announced that his debut album, Louie, will be released on August 31, 2022. As he shared the album’s cover art and tracklist, the star producer explained that he recorded much of the album after learning that his father had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Connecting to his father through art, Louie serves as a symbolic gift for his father.
“I always said that I wouldn’t do a solo album because I didn’t have anything to say. Finally, I did,” Kenny Beats wrote in a press release.
“Something dark turned into something beautiful. This album encapsulated the feeling of that one month.”
The world is still a few days away from hearing Louie in its entirety, but a few of the producer’s close collaborators and friends have had an opportunity to hear the project early. Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive tweeted that heard it in the way it “was intended to be heard.” Sharing a picture of a cassette player, headphones and a photo, he shared some fire emojis along with the release date.
Kenny Beats is set to deliver Louie on Wednesday. While we wait, check out the tracklist below.
