Insecure‘s Kendrick Sampson was on the front lines of several protests in Los Angeles, California over the weekend. Spotted by fans around the country on CNN and a number of other networks, the HBO star went toe-to-toe with law enforcement in a crowd of thousands. During the weekend’s events, Sampson says he was beaten with batons and hit with rubber bullets.
“He pointed the gun directly at me,” Sampson tweeted.
“I actually got hit 7 times with rubber bullets and many with batons. My boy has stitches,” he added.

Sampson was one of thousands across the country as protests escalated over the weekend in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Atlanta. In many instances, violent confrontations took place between demonstrators and police.
“If LAPD didn’t know cameras were on they would’ve done much worse,” he tweeted.
“They’re organized crime, continuing the legacy of slave catching,” he continued.
Throughout the past week, police officers have ripped college students out of their cars in Atlanta, ran vehicles in to crowds in New York and fired tear gas on to bridges in New Orleans. As demonstrations near their second weekend, there appears to be no end in sight.
