The Pittsburgh Panthers have named USC Trojans transfer quarterback Kedon Slovis their starting quarterback this season. To win the starting job, Slovis beat out redshirt senior quarterback Nick Patti. Now Slovis will be tasked with replacing quarterback Kenny Pickett who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was a key figure for three seasons with the USC Trojans before he transferred to the Pittsburgh Panthers. It was likely he was going to lose the starting job at USC to Oklahoma Sooners’ transfer Caleb Williams.
As expected, former USC quarterback Kedon Slovis has won Pitt’s QB job. He will face his former OC (Graham Harrell) and teammate JT Daniels in the opener in what should be a very entertaining Backyard Brawl.

In three seasons with the USC Trojans, Kedon Slovis completed 652 passes for 7,576 yards 58 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions on 953 attempts. His sophomore and junior seasons were remarkably less impressive than his freshman season. With new Head Coach Lincoln Riley at USC and his former Oklahoma quarterback joining him, the writing was on the wall for Slovis. Now he will start for a program that just sent a quarterback to the NFL.
