From Adrian Marcel to Keyshia Cole and many artists in between, the Bay Area has also added its own special spice to the fabric of R&B. Lately, San Francisco native Karri has emerged as one of the most promising artists from the area to put his own spin on the genre.
Building upon the success of his breakout single, “Oakland,” Karri has returned with a second installment of the track. The smooth, ambient production propels the San Francisco native’s transparent, emotive lyrics and hypnotizing vocal delivery. As the track unfolds, he brings the listener into his innermost thoughts as he longs for a former lover who had left town in search for the bright lights of New York.
“You moved from Brooklyn back to Oakland because you know that you missed everything about this side. You can’t stay away from Oakland and you know that s—t. You missed everything about this side. Truth be told, you’d probably rather be in Oakland,” he sings.
