Kanye West is reportedly working on the sequel to his 2021 album, Donda. On Wednesday afternoon, TIDAL posted what appears to be a text exchange between West and Memphis native Moneybagg Yo. In a lengthy text, West says that he’ll “simplify” one beat and asks Moneybagg Yo to rap on another. Towards the end of his statement, he mentions the project by name, Donda 2.
“I got to lock in with you on Donda 2,” he wrote.
TIDAL’s recent tweet confirms what G.O.O.D Music COO Steven Victor said during an interview Complex earlier this month.
“Ye has started working on his new masterpiece DONDA 2,” he said.
At this time, it is unclear when Donda II may arrive. However, it does appear that it will drop sooner rather than later as West has been extremely active in recent weeks. Not only did he team up with Drake for a concert, he also linked up with Future for a show in Miami, Florida on New Year’s Eve. Shortly thereafter, he was spotted in the studio with Antonio Brown, The Game and Moneybagg Yo. Most recently, he was added to this year’s Coachella lineup. There is also a possibility that he could land on this year’s performance stage at the Grammy Awards.
