Not long ago, former boxing champion Deontay Wilder was campaigning to become the antagonist in the upcoming Creed film. After months of searching, it appears the MGM and Michael B. Jordan have found the next opponent for Adonis Creed. As expected, it is not the 6’7 hard-hitting Wilder. Instead, it is the critically acclaimed actor Jonathan Majors. Deadline has reported that Majors is negotiating a deal with MGM to become Creed‘s “nemesis” in the franchise’s third installment.
Majors will join a cast that is currently headlined by Jordan and Tessa Thompson. However, it is unsure if other key stars will return for the third Creed film. For more than 40 years, Sylvester Stallone has played the role of Rocky, but he has said that he is done with the franchise. In addition, Phylicia Rashad has taken on a role as the dean of the newly established Chadwick Boseman College Of Fine Arts at Howard University. It is unclear how her new role will impact her ability to return to the franchise. Not to mention, Jordan will be making his directorial debut with Creed III.
At this time, there are a lot of question marks surrounding the film. However, MGM has noted that it will hit theaters in November 2022.
