The Las Vegas Raiders have traded defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins and a 7th-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys for a 6th-round pick. Hankins is primarily a run-stopper and brings experience to an already stout Cowboys’ defensive line. Las Vegas has other names on the line they want to give more snaps to and move on from the veteran defensive lineman. The Raiders also slightly improve their draft capital with this move. He had been with the Oakland and Las Vegas Raiders since 2018 but had slowed down some this season with his production level.
Cowboys added a run stopper to interior, acquiring DT Johnathan Hankins and a 2024 seventh-round pick from Raiders in exchange for Cowboys’ 2023 sixth-round pick, person familiar with deal said. Timely move with the Bears, who totaled 243 rushing yards Monday, visiting Sunday.

This season as a mostly rotational player with the Las Vegas Raiders, Johnathan Hankins recorded one solo tackle, ten total tackles, and one pass defended. With Dallas, he may serve in a similar role as a depth player but could add more numbers than he did with Las Vegas. The Cowboys are hoping to make the NFL Playoffs this year and depth moves like this could make or break a season especially if an injury were to happen. Las Vegas has a lot of work to do if they hope to even compete for a playoff spot this season. Johnathan Hankins could be an invaluable addition later in the season.
