In the last offseason, the former 19th overall pick from the 2017 NBA Draft decided to bet on himself after rejecting a $90 million contract extension from the Hawks, and when Danilo Gallinari was signed the decision didn’t look like the best one.
But his performance in the playoffs and the team reaching the Eastern Conference Finals convinced the Hawks to give a bigger contract than the one negotiated one year ago.
Collins’ deal also joins Trae Young’s as the two big moves that Atlanta has made in free agency and already their teammates are making jokes on social media.
